Can I launch my own kayak or SUP?

Yes you can! It is $15 per kayak to launch. This fee covers your parking spot, use of our indoor bathroom, outdoor shower, changing rooms, kayak cleaning station, a map of the area and staff assistance (if needed) when loading and unloading your kayak. We have the right to turn away people with their own equipment if parking becomes tight (Typically on weekends)

Can I try a kayak before buying?

Of course! We have a very liberal, hassle free, no cost try before you buy policy! You can try up to 3  kayaks or SUPs at our marina for a total of ½ hour.

Do you take trade-ins?

This is a case by case basis.

Can I bring my dog(s) on the kayak or SUP?

Yes you can! We love our furry friends.

I have never been kayaking or paddle boarding; is that a problem?

No problem at all! We have beginners come all the time! Our river and the harbor is very calm and our staff will show you some tips and tricks that will help!

Can kids kayak on their own?

Yes! We have kayaks for kids. We can also tie a tow rope to an adults kayak for towing if necessary. We have life jackets in all sizes – toddler to 2XL.

What kayak/SUP brands do you sell?

At any given day we typically have about 150 kayaks/Sups in stock at our location. These kayaks include Perception, Wilderness System, Dagger, Pelican and Stellar. We carry Tahe Outdoor paddle boards.

Can I bring food and drinks in the kayak with me?

Yes you can! There is plenty of room for a small cooler and some bags. We also have large dry bags you can borrow.

What comes with the rental?

Your rental includes the kayak (or SUP), a life jacket with a whistle, map and a paddle.

Does the tide have an impact on when I should rent?

Nope! At low tide you can paddle out and explore the giant sand bars in Clinton Harbor. At high tide, you can paddle up the Hammonasset River and through the marsh inlets near the bird sanctuary. You can access Cedar Island beach at any tide.

Is there a beach I can paddle to?

Yes! You can paddle out to Cedar Island, an extension of Hammonasset State Park. Approaching from the South, after passing all the private residences on the island, there is a long stretch of beach that you can pull your kayak up on! This beach is only accessible by boat!

Do you offer discounts for large groups?

Yes. We offer rental discounts to groups of more than 10 people.

Can I take a kayak off site?

As long as you have a vehicle and all appropriate straps that can safely transport the kayak or SUP then you can do an off site rental. We will take a copy of your credit card and license. (HINT: Kayaking out of our marina is much easier….and FUN!)

Do you offer long term rentals?

Yes we do! We have free delivery and pick up to neighboring towns (Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Clinton, Madison, and Guilford). Call for pricing. Minimum of a 3 day rental for delivery and pick up.

Should I make a reservation?

Reservations on the weekends are highly recommended. You can call or reserve online.

When is your last rental time of the day?

Our hours are Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm and Friday-Sunday 9am-6pm. All equipment must be returned prior to closing. We do not allow paddlers to stay out after closing since there will be no staff to assist incase of emergency on the water.

Do you offer private group outings?

We can schedule your private group outing any night of the week – with or without a guide. Call us to schedule your outing! We have hosted boy scouts, girl scouts, church groups, park and rec groups, corporate events, and more! Special pricing options may be available.

We recommend wearing flip flops (or some type of water shoe), athletic shorts and a quick dry shirt or tank top. You can also wear a bathing suit if you plan to stop at the beach! Don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat!
